'Romeo and Juliet' is een stuk dat iedereen kent maar als je, zoals de spelers van Nature Theatre hebben gedaan, verschillende mensen vraagt om het na te vertellen, levert datheel persoonlijke interpretaties op met soms volstrekt nieuwe scènes, personages en smeuïge details.
Nature Theater of Oklahoma is opgericht door de kunstenaars en vrijdenkers Kelly Copper en Pavol Liska. In hun werk spelen ze graag met het verschijnsel dat iedereen de dingen anders ervaart en verklaart. Zo komen ze tot absurdistisch, hilarisch en ook poëtisch en herkenbaar theater.

‘Romeo and Juliet’ Shakespeare’s most renowned play. Everyone knows it by heart. You think... But if you ask 50 people to tell the story from start to finish, you will hear unknown juicy details and even new scenes and characters. Anne Gridley and Robert M. Johanson play these rival versions of Romeo and Juliet exactly as they are told. But as the play progresses, they deviate more and more in order to end in a passionate dialogue about their own affection and their humiliating need for love.

Nature Theater of Oklahoma was founded by the artists and freethinkers Kelly Copper and Pavol Liska. In their work, this idiosyncratic pair likes to play with the phenomenon that everyone experiences and explains perceptions and events differently. In doing so, they create absurd and hilarious yet also poetic, moving and recognizable theatre. They are supported in their activities by a small but faithful number of very talented actors.
