Over een van zijn eerdere stukken 'In the emptiness' schreef Mike Dixon in Ballet International: "… with 'In the emptiness' Stoffer and his company approached the sublime … At this level of physical execution the choreographer was virtually painting with pure lightning … This is unusual talent: to disturb and provoke while maintaining an approach that doesn't degenerate into mime and theatrics. English Aphasia Dance Company I Enigma Could you communicate if you could no loger speak, read, write or understand spoken words? Could you express daily thoughts, feelings or abstract concepts and be understood? Ted Stoffer's Aphasia Dance Company exploits the diversity of the body, delving deep into its physicality to explore the subtle and complex language of communication without words. Dance, light and sound are integrated to create a world of metaphors and symbolism: subtle, blatant, tangible, surreal."... outstanding and untrammelled triumph ... Stoffer and his company approached the sublime" (Dance Europe, july 1999) Ted Stoffer is acknowledged to be one of Europe's most visionary and brilliant choregraphers. 'I Enigma' is his third work and the first in a trilogy dealing with human conditions. Data
